Marine Corps Identity Cause

Trio is proud to be enlisted as the marketing firm behind the Marine Corps Identity Cause. This viral campaign supports legislation currently in the Senate to rename the US Department of the Navy to the US Department of the Navy and Marine Corps.

Marine Corps League

Challenge

Our mission: Assist in passing legislation to rename the United States Department of the Navy to the United States Department of the Navy and Marine Corps.

The Marine Corps League asked Trio to create a grassroots campaign to aid in passing legislation set forward by Rep. Walter Jones and Sen. Pat Roberts.

Goals

  • Brand and create awareness for the cause
  • Highlight R. Lee Ermey as spokesperson and leverage to create national media attention
  • Create interactive campaign to engage supporters
  • Assist in passing HR 24 through the House and S 504 through the Senate
  • Produce qualitative and quantitative support among American citizens

Solution

Trio branded the campaign as the "Marine Corps Identity Cause" with the tagline "One Team. One Fight. Equal Recognition". Our next step was to produce a website that engaged potential supporters by providing clear and succinct information about the cause, frequent news updates, and chances to contribute and publish opinions, watch videos, sign a petition, and even a special section for Sailors and Marines to share their stories and photos.

Facebook and Twitter campaigns have been essential tools in garnering continued support and producing viral results. Social media and the Marine Cause news blog are used in conjunction with one another to effectively push out both timely news to supporters and messages to the media.

Results

Trio is proud to boast that HR 24 passed the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010 with a record-breaking number of supporters, the most in U.S. history. We continue to help support the companion bill S 504 and enjoy our position on the frontlines of affecting history making legislation.
