Taylor English BP Lawsuit Featured in AJC, Atlanta Business Chronicle, 11 Alive

Trio client Taylor English has filed the first class action aimed at Georgia residents who own land on the Gulf who’ve been impacted by the BP oil spill. The lawsuit, which seeks to make sure Georgians aren’t lost in the legal shuffle, which they likely would have been, has received local coverage including:

  • AP
  • Atlanta Journal-Constitution
  • Atlanta Business Chronicle
  • Marietta Daily Journal
  • 11Alive

It’s also expected to receive more in-depth coverage tonight on WSB-TV.

Even though Georgia isn’t on the Gulf, people who own rental properties down there are deeply impacted. Who wants to rent a beach home with the threat of tar balls? Knowing that, it’s always important to try to pitch stories with a human element. Real people.Real stories. Real problems. After the initial news, reporters will always want that human angle. That’s what Jim Strickland of WSB-TV is working on right now.

It’s also important to respect the scoop factor. Media outlets survive on them. Always be cognizant of offering different angles to different outlets and to think about offering exclusives.

No one wants to report on the same stories everyone else is.
